Lyon. Round tables, games, activities: five good reasons to attend the climate-focused trade show, "Here we act!"

In Lyon, too, people are taking action. Le Progrès is organizing the "Ici on agit!" event this Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th, at La Sucrière (2nd arrondissement) dedicated to initiatives in favor of the environment and climate. With roundtable discussions, activities, and numerous booths, here are five good reasons to attend.

"Here, we act!" is a two-day event dedicated to learning about environmental issues, meeting and discussing positive local initiatives with businesses and associations.

On Friday, May 16, the event is open to professionals, communities, and students. On Saturday, May 17, the fair opens to the general public, families, and children, with a program packed with discoveries. Not sure about attending? Here are five reasons to visit Ici on agit, at La Sucrière: the event is free; just register.

The "Here we act!" trade show is an opportunity to discover companies based near you that are taking action to protect the environment and are involved in the ecological transition to benefit the economy.

The public will be able to meet the Filtrabio team, a benchmark in water treatment, based in Brindas, the Moulin Marion mill , committed to a sustainable approach, with products from organic farming, or M-Industries, which gives a second life to materials by recycling them in order to reduce waste.

More surprisingly, we also note the presence of Pivert Funéraire, a Saint-Etienne company that is redefining the final journey with eco-designed coffins combining innovation and respect for the environment.

Where are we with climate change today? What can we expect in the coming decades? These are the kinds of questions that will be addressed during the roundtable discussions organized over the two days of the show. A dozen are planned in a dedicated space at La Sucrière.

Where is ongoing climate change leading? How can we prepare for the risk of water shortages? How can we build and renovate ecologically in Lyon in 2025? How can we combat plastic pollution to protect our aquatic environments? These are all major issues that will be debated in public by speakers who are specialists in their fields.

Among these speakers, we note several big names such as Jean Jouzel, climatologist and glaciologist , member of the Panel on Climate Change, François Gemenne, Belgian political scientist, specialized in environmental and climate migration issues, who also co-authored the sixth IPCC report. The adventurer Rémi Camus , described as an extreme explorer, known for his involvement in the preservation of the seas and oceans will be there as will Pierre-Ambroise Bosse, world champion in athletics in the 800 meters in 2017 and founder of The Clean Project , an association committed to the preservation of the environment. The agrometeorologist Serge Zaka will also be present.

Because play and learning can also transform you into an agent of change, young and old alike can participate in free, open-access activities. It starts with the Boulgour Quiz, a crazy quiz on ecology, responsible eating, and soft mobility with spicy questions. On Friday, young and old can also try their hand at the smoothie bike, a chance to get energized and happy with just one pedal stroke.

Fire workshops, featuring explorer Rémi Camus, will be held to teach visitors how to use fire responsibly. A brazier will be used to limit the impact on the soil and avoid excessive wood consumption. Finally, Hector the Beaver, the event's mascot, will be the center of attention during these two days, where he will meet visitors for selfies.

The public won't just be spectators; they'll also be able to take concrete action for the planet during the Clean Up Challenge on Friday morning. From 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., teams will set off from La Sucrière to collect as much waste as possible: cigarette butts, cans, bottles. Each group will receive a complete kit: bibs, gloves, and trash bags. At the end of the walk, the bags will be weighed before a series of games and quizzes. The champion clean-up team will be announced at 1 p.m. A fun, sporty, and environmentally friendly experience.

Here we act: Friday 16th from 9am to 10pm and Saturday 17th May from 9am to 7pm, at La Sucrière (Lyon 2nd). Website: https://www.ici-onagit.fr/e/ici-on-agit-lyon-2025
